The main easter egg in Call of Duty Zombies is always the biggest, looking forward to the challenge in new maps. The second main map in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, Firebase Z, continues this tradition by tasking our Task Force Requiem to rescue Samantha Maxis. Before you start, you don’t need to prepare anything before you load the game. We prefer Gallo SA12 in Zombies, but he is not very useful in the boss fight for this map. However, we are going to grab a wonder weapon that will be more than useful to us there. This Easter egg can be made in a group or alone. Let’s start.
Turn the RAI-K84 on/standby.
For the first six rounds or so, you’ll need to concentrate on getting Firebase up and running. If you need help, we have a tutorial, but if you don’t understand any of the most basic aspects of Firebase Z, we suggest you play it at least a few times before trying to complete this Easter Egg.
In addition, at some point, at least one person on your team must obtain a RAI-K84 magical weapon. We have instructions you can follow to build it yourself, or use it from the mystery box or the legendary trial rewards. You can also get it from the Easter Bunny’s secret room if you are lucky.
We recommend that you run the tests from the helipad computer until you obtain them. Complete these tests until you obtain the legendary reward and redeem it for a chance to obtain a wonder weapon. If you don’t get it, you’ll probably get a free bonus, which is very useful. In fact, you won’t need the weapon until a little later. Try to get it while the game is in progress.
If the electricity is on for the entire base, you need to make a short tour. Go to Ravenov in the departure village and talk to him. That will also activate the wrapping machine. Peck will instruct you to meet him in Mission Control. He is hiding behind bulletproof glass in the bunker, so talk to him until he reveals that he beamed Samantha into the Dark Aether a few days ago and tricked us into helping him.
To find a way to get Samantha back, we are going to make a truth serum. Go back to the village and talk to Ravenclaw. He will give you the Key Card.
You need to open three cabinets across the board and grab the connectors inside. Cabinet Locations:
Across from Ravenova in the warehouse.
Next to the safe in the colonel’s office.
Next to the engine room window.
With the three compounds in your inventory, go to the field hospital in the barracks area. Turn to the red blender on one of the tables to start the combination. When you start, a group of Hellhounds will appear on the map. Destroy them and survive, then interact with the vacuum device to retrieve it.
You must place the vacuum unit on the level of the air conditioning unit leading to Peck’s hopper. It is located to the right of the control center entrance from the planning office.
Capturing the essence of mimicry
Talk to Peck, who then hallucinates and starts dancing. Wait for a chance to talk to him, and Weaver asks you what to do. This next step is probably the most boring part of the whole Easter egg story, especially if you’re playing solo.
Go to the top floor of the data center and find the console with the picture of the brain on it. As you get closer, Peck should start talking about it. Step forward and interact with the machine, and four gas traps will appear.
Get the gas trap. It replaces all the tactical gear you have now. If you play with other people, they can take one too. It doesn’t matter which one you keep, because you come back here to empty it and use it again. You can think of them as Pokémon Pokéballs. They will behave the same way we do.
There are three different people infected, died and turned into mimetics that we need information on. We need to lock them in these devices and get them into the console to access their memories and find Samantha in the Dark Aether. However, this does not work for all Mimics that appear on the map at the beginning of the turn.
You have to walk across the map and find the areas where different elements are. The places where they can be present are the starting village, the open lottery or carpooling. They are impersonators waiting for a chance to attack you. If you shoot them and nothing comes of it, keep exploring the area. Eventually one of the impersonators will appear.
It is very important that you do not kill Mimic when it appears. If you do, you must advance to the next round to get another chance. Instead, you must damage Mimic until his health is very weak. When Mimic is about to die, release the gasoline trap and activate it to suck Mimic dry while standing over him.
Wait for the device to tell you that the monster is in the trap and that you can catch it, and you have three minutes to deliver the trap to the console from where we picked it up. If you catch it too early, or if Mimic is too healthy, it will jump out of the trap. See? See? Just like Pokémon. Too bad you can’t fight them.
When you return to the console, make sure you don’t put the machine near other gasoline traps, or you will drop the trap you caught the Mimic in. When you plug it back in, memory reading begins. If you’re playing with subtitles, be careful with quotes from characters named Sokolov, Brahms, and Toad. If you don’t have subtitles, Weaver will tell you at the end of the recording whether you need the memory or not.
If the message comes from the wrong person, don’t worry, keep catching the impersonators until you have the three correct names. Remember that if you kill a Mimic, you must start the next round to have the group of items reappear, probably in a different place. We also encountered a bug that sometimes causes Mimics to explode and die as soon as they happen again, but this was fixed after a few rounds so you don’t have to start the whole game over. When you hear three correct characters, a disc comes out of the console so you can type it in.
Find more Athereum crystals
Note: For this step, at least one person on your team must be carrying a RAI-K84 Miracle Weapon.
Bring the disk to the console with the same brain image in the plan offices. The structure behind the window, called OPC, will open its doors and you will see a portal that will begin to open when you enter it. Unfortunately, we need more Athereum crystals to power the portal.
Talk to Peck, who still seems to be under the influence of the truth serum, and tell him to find the crystals we need. When he’s done talking, wait for Ravenov to give you the code to open the locker to the left of Peck’s window. You don’t have to remember the code, just play with the locker to open it. Pick up all the loose ends that fall to the ground.
Before we find the crystals, we need a shovel to dig them up. Go to the Scorched Defense huts outside Mission Control and grab the shovel inside.
We obtain crystals from the simplest to the most complex, but you can do it in any order.
First, go to the barracks and find the search point near the door of the field hospital, closest to the stairs leading to the data center. Dig up the crystal and it will either fly to the field hospital or to one of the barracks buildings. Do not enter the building or the crystal will fly away.
Someone with RAI-K84 should fire a change shot into the crystal at a distance that prevents it from flying away, so you can run and catch it.
Then go to the Open Lot and dig by the window of the engineering department.
A blue crystal appears, and identical crystals appear everywhere in the open area. You must find the only container that has no black mist at all. This is the only container that will allow you to move forward. You can see what it will look like in the screenshot below.
Finally, the yellow crystal is in the central alley of the jungle defense. If you are playing with several people, make sure everyone is with you when you dig, otherwise they will take damage until they die.
A yellow dome appears around you and brings in the Aglers, hellhounds and zombies. Survive this wave until the dome is gone and then you can get the crystal. Just concentrate on surviving this bubble. If you play alone, it’s not as intense as playing with a group. The small space fills up quickly with more people.
Reroute the satellite.
Once you have all three crystals in tow, go back to the three generators you activated to start them and interact with them to use the crystals and overload the machines. When all is done, run to the OPC and it will stop, revealing to Peck that he has tricked you again.
It is very important that you are ready to face your boss before moving on. Grab the weapons, power-ups and handguns you want to use in the fight against the boss. Remember that you need at least one medium range weapon to do damage to the boss.
Wait until Weaver asks you about the new satellite the director is making, then go to the planning office. There is a computer that you must communicate with to show a screen that redirects the satellite. You must place your cursor on the yellow icon with the question mark and confirm. If you are playing alone, you need to be quick because the zombies will still attack you while you are on the screen.
When you get outside, you’ll see a satellite firing a red laser at the fire base. If this happens, the zombies will continue to spawn on the map, which won’t give you any points if you kill them. Go to the OPC and interact with the console inside to start the cutting scene.
The struggle of the bosses
After the end of the cup scene, you’ll have to deal with the Horde, the same giant monster you encounter in the defense zones around the 30th round. The difference is that they are much closer, and this time you fight them in the beginning village.
The location of this boss fight is actually quite advantageous for the players. You always have access to the Pack-a-Punch and Wunderfizz vending machines. That way, if you have enough points in the middle of the battle, you can quickly buy the upgrades you so desperately need. However, zombies, mimics and claws are coming regularly, so you’ll have to be quick.
During combat, you can shoot at the horde, but if they open their mouths to reveal a bright light, you’ll do more damage if you shoot there.
While fending off small enemies, you must also make sure that the Horde is making the same attacks as in the defensive sections. They can shoot hellhounds into the arena and overwhelm you with damage over time. Don’t get too close or they will crush you, making you unstable. Make sure you defend yourself by taking out the small enemies around you, and if you have a miracle weapon, use the alternate shot and then the main shot to cause a black hole explosion to clear the area.
Discard the health of the Horde until you complete it, and the short story ends. Additionally, when you complete the main Easter Egg for the first time, you will receive a new business card to show other players.
